Brian Donnellan is Professor of Information Systems Innovation at Maynooth University (www.nuim.ie), Academic Director of the Innovation Value Institute (www.ivi.ie) and Lead Investigator in the Irish Software Research Centre (www.lero.ie) where he is leading research projects on Smart Cities and Internet-Of-Things. The Innovation Value Institute (IVI) is an industry-led research initiative founded by Intel Corp, Boston Consulting Group and Maynooth University. The IVI researches and develops unifying frameworks and road-maps to deliver IT enabled innovation whilst validating that these frameworks/tools have a broad applicability across differing industries and contexts. IVI, through its Open Innovation approach, facilitates a collaborative community of like-minded peers committed to investigating, advancing and disseminating the frameworks, tools and best practices associated with managing Innovation. The Irish Software Research Institute (Lero) brings together leading software researchers from all Irish universities in a entre of research excellence with a strong industry focus. In its 10-year existence, Lero has won over almost €100 million in competitive peer-reviewed funding. Lero’s Principal Investigators are among the leaders internationally in the field, with almost 70,000 citations to their work, over 750 journal publications, and over 2,200 conference papers (with numerous Best Paper awards). Prof. Donnellan has studied Engineering (B. Eng), Business (MBA) and Information Systems (PhD). He spent 20 years working in the ICT industry where he was responsible for the provision of Engineering Information Systems to support New Product Development. He is an expert evaluator and reviewer for the Commission of the European Union, has been guest and associate editor of several leading IS journals and has published over 150 papers and articles in IS journals and conferences.
