Russ Brooks is the Director of Smart Cities for Transportation for America. Last year, Russ launched the Smart Cities Collaborative bringing together 16 cities to explore how technology can improve urban mobility and tackle the challenges related to implementing smart city policies and projects. Cities in the Collaborative receive direct technical assistance, launch pilot projects and share best practices with the rest of the collaborative to drive best practices across the country. Before Smart Cities, Russ was T4America’s Deputy Director and also founded the Urbanful project, a startup launched to support small-batch manufacturers and local businesses with profits going to support Smart Growth America’s work. Prior to joining T4America, Russ served as the National Director for CABT, an organization focused on freight and highway safety, and was responsible for strategizing, planning and implementing their state and federal policy agenda as well as managing the organization’s field staff.
